Get ready for a day filled with creativity, culture, and community at the 26th Annual Art in the Village, taking place this Sunday, June 23rd, from 9 am to 5 pm. Held in the heart of downtown Carlsbad, this open-air art show offers an unforgettable experience for art enthusiasts of all ages.
Explore Over 130 Fine Artists
Since 1998, the Carlsbad Village Association (CVA) has proudly hosted this vibrant art show, featuring over 130 juried artists from across the region and beyond, including Mexico. Stroll through booths filled with a wide variety of artwork, from oil paintings and watercolors to mixed media, digital art, photography, glasswork, woodworking, jewelry, and pottery. Each piece is crafted with care and creativity, and visitors have the unique opportunity to meet the artists and purchase their works directly.
Live Music to Enhance Your Experience
Art in the Village is not just about visual art—it’s a feast for the ears as well. This year’s event features live performances on the Ting Internet Stage, starting with the soulful keyboard melodies of Jemille Vialet. Jehlad Hickson, a Golden Buzzer winner on America’s Got Talent, will follow with his dynamic five-piece band. The Ramblin’ Sweethearts return by popular demand, bringing their energetic Rockabilly vibe. Additionally, sidewalk musicians scattered throughout the venue will keep the atmosphere lively and engaging. the Ting Internet Stage is located on Christiansen Way.
Savor Local Flavors in the Food, Beer, and Wine Garden
Situated right next to the Ting Internet Stage, the Carlsbad Village Association's Food, Beer, and Wine Garden is the perfect place to take a break and enjoy some local delights. Sip on craft beer from Pure Project, savor wine from Costa Azul Winery, and indulge in tasty bites from Grilled Cheese King and Nico’s Fish Market. Relax with a drink and enjoy the live music for a complete sensory experience.
Kids Can Create Their Own Masterpiece at the Cultural Arts Booth
Unleash your inner artist at the City of Carlsbad’s Pop-Up Art booth. Formerly known as Family Open Studios, this booth invites children and their families to engage in hands-on art-making activities. Guided by the City’s Arts Education team, you can create a unique piece of art to take home. And don’t miss the face painter nearby, adding a splash of color and fun to the festivities.
Enjoy Live Art Demonstrations
In addition to artmaking for kids and their families, take in four additional interactive experiences while you're here. At the North end of the venue, you will find live pottery demonstrations by Carlsbad Village's Handled Pottery. At the South end, come be mesmerized as Max Krop creates beautiful glass pieces and jewelry deftly using a handheld torch. At the East end, check out the printmaking station led by Campana Studios. And at the West end, we are pleased to have Lynn Forbes Sculpting Studio back with live sculpting.
Convenient Location with Free Bike Valet
Located on Grand and State Streets in downtown Carlsbad, Art in the Village is easily accessible. Consider riding your bike to the Village! Enjoy a complimentary bike valet service provided by the City of Carlsbad and operated by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. The valet, located at Engel & Volkers at 2965 Roosevelt Street, ensures that your bike and accessories are securely monitored while you enjoy the festivities.
