Check Out What's New At Art In The Village This Year!

Blog Post - June 20, 2023

Category: What's New

(Don't miss this year's complimentary Bike Valet)

The 25th Annual Art in the Village is this Sunday, June 25th. Join us from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm when four downtown blocks of Carlsbad Village will turn into an open-air art show for the 25th Annual Art in the Village. Stroll our charming Village streets, just two blocks from the ocean, and take in amazing artwork, live music on stage, performance art, demonstrations, and interactive displays.

While keeping 25 years of traditions alive, we also would like to introduce some new features at this year's Art in the Village.

Ride Your Bike and Park in the Free Bike Valet

The City of Carlsbad is proud to offer complimentary bike valet services for those attending Art in the Village. Operated by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, a bike valet is like a coat check for bikes.

A bike valet service ensures riders that their bicycles, e-bikes and accessories, like helmets, are safe while they enjoy the festivities. The bike coalition will provide the bike corral for security, bike racks for bikes without kickstands and staff to provide bike check-in and check-out.

The Bike Valet will be located at State Street and Christiansen Way (By the train station, between Handel's/Pure Brewing and New Village Arts Center)

New Seating Area and Vendors in the Garden

The CVA Food, Wine, and Beer garden will be returning in 2023 to popular demand. This is a family-friendly location in the heart of the venue at the corner of State Street and Grand Avenue that will offer delicious local food, craft beer and wine. Our local food and drink purveyors always create something special in the garden and we hope you will join us there! And new this year, CVA Member, Kiln, has generously sponsored a lovely seating area in the garden - called Hospitality Corners - where you can relax for a bit and enjoy the sights and sounds of Art in the Village. And, Kiln will also be hosting a no-purchase necessary opportunity drawing for a Kiln bike right outside the garden! We wish everyone great luck!

Our newest vendor, Acaí Surf & Roll will be in the Garden this year serving up authentic and refreshing Brazilian acaí that is sure to fuel your body and mind.

And Back By Popular Demand . . .

In addition to amazing fine art on display, you can also enjoy live demonstrations including sculpting, glass jewelry making, and even pottery making.

Live musical acts will be on the Ting Internet stage on Christiansen Avenue and solo sidewalk performers will play in three areas throughout the venue. For stage performance information, click on Ting Internet Stage

Over 500 children created artwork of their own at Art in the Village at last year's event!

The City of Carlsbad will be hosting the Pop Up Art (formerly Family Open Studios) artmaking booth for children and art enthusiasts of all ages. The City’s Arts Education team will guide interested artists in creating an abstract “glass-like” masterpiece with a colorful, layered, see-through artwork to bring home. Live music and a face painter will be nearby to add to the fun! For more information on the artmaking booth, located at the north end of State Street, click on Pop Up Art For All Ages.

Held every Summer since 1998, the Carlsbad Village Association has hosted Art in the Village, a free, one-day, open-air art show, that features fine artists from all over the region. All artwork is juried and you can meet the artists in their booths the day of the event. Oil, watercolor, mixed media, digital, photography, glasswork, woodworking, jewelry, pottery, and more will be on display and for purchase.

Public parking lots are on all sides of the venue (click here for parking information) with most just one block from the venue, and the Coaster Station is just steps from the venue (click here for Coaster information.)
