Sand, sun, surf, shopping, dining, sports, theatre, music, leisure activities . . . the list goes on. Carlsbad has it all. But as we've all heard a hundred times or more, things look a little different now and they have for nearly a full year. Thankfully, however, the future is starting to look a bit rosier. For example, the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch just reopened and will run through May 9th with tickets purchased in advance, online. They're making it happen and they're doing it safely!
So is Visit Carlsbad, the city's destination marketing organization (DMO) officially charged with promoting travel to our wonderful city. Visit Carlsbad has had a difficult year balancing the task of keeping Carlsbad "front of mind" for all travelers, while adhering to the safety guidelines, rules, and regulations. And, with closures and stay-at-home orders changing several times last year, causing hotels and other amenities to change the way they do business, their message had to be on point at all times. To that end, Visit Carlsbad has launched the Carlsbad Is Calling campaign to make sure people know that our fine city is ready and waiting for them as their next travel destination.
“The Carlsbad is Calling campaign is focused on the reemerging leisure travel market, promoting Carlsbad through multiple mediums and ads while showcasing the diversity of the destination and its coastal charm," said Mark Rudyk, Interim Executive Director. "We know what an amazing place Carlsbad is and through this campaign work to bring travelers here to experience everything we have to offer.”

With tens of millions of impressions from its integrated promotional efforts, the Carlsbad Is Calling campaign has been highlighting accessible dining, lodging, and amenities, with an emphasis on the great outdoor lifestyle Carlsbad has to offer. As Covid restrictions lessen, the campaign will increase promotion accordingly.
“The goal is to encourage visitation and help bring dollars into the city and local businesses," Mark said. "Helping the recovery process as we emerge out of the effects Covid-19 is our main goal right now. The Carlsbad Is Calling campaign has enabled us to keep Carlsbad relevant and competitive with other coastal markets during the pandemic and will position us to be stronger than ever when we are fully back to business."
