Safer Streets Together: Holiday Traffic Safety

Blog Post - December 20, 2022

Category: What's New

Earlier this month, the City of Carlsbad’s traffic safety emergency proclamation was extended another 60 days. As we approach the holidays, traffic patterns will change, visitors will come from out of town, and kids may be eager to try out a new bike or scooter. That’s why we are joining the city in asking everyone to use extra care on our roadways.

Whether driving, biking or walking, we all have the power to make Carlsbad’s streets safer:

  • Slow down and allow extra time to get where you need to go.
  • Eliminate distractions to stay focused on the road at all times.
  • When out at night, wear something bright or reflective. Use a flashlight or bike light so you can be easily seen.

Watch a quick video to make sure your helmet fits properly. And for night riding tips, watch this quick video.

The Carlsbad Police Department will be out helping to make sure everyone stays safe and follows the rules of the road, and the city’s social media will feature regular safety tips throughout the holiday season. For more information about traffic safety, please visit www.carlsbadca.gov/saferstreets.
