This Weekend: Hunt for Hidden Hearts & Score Prizes In The Village!

Calling all adventurers, explorers, and treasure hunters - your quest awaits in downtown Carlsbad Village! The annual Hearts of Carlsbad Village scavenger hunt is back and bigger than ever. We're talking 400 gorgeous, glittering glass hearts scattered around the Village just waiting to be discovered. That's double the amount from last year!

Gather your family, friends, or trusty sidekick for an epic downtown hunt. As you explore our fantastic local shops & restaurants, keep your eyes peeled for colorful hearts tucked in plain sight. If you spot one, it's yours! Who knows where they could be hidden? Maybe tucked in a tree, peeking out of a planter, or nestled in a flower pot?

If you're lucky enough to uncover one of these elusive glass hearts, make sure to register your find on the Carlsbad Village Association website. You'll be entered to win some fun local prizes like gift cards, Market Money for the State Street Farmers Market, or even Carlsbad branded merchandise. If you find the one-and-only Bird of Paradise glass heart you will receive a private glassblowing experience from Barrio Glassworks for four people!

But fear not if your quest comes up empty-handed, the real treasure is the magical memories made while exploring the Village together. Plus, Barrio Glassworks is offering a "locals" discount on their signature glass hearts in-store so you can snag a sparkly souvenir!

It's guaranteed to be an unforgettable, fun-filled weekend of adventure for the whole family. The hunt awaits in Carlsbad Village!

Here are the basic rules of the hunt:

• The hunt starts at 9:00am on the morning of Saturday, February 10th. On both Saturday, February 10th and Sunday, February 11th, 200 hearts will be hidden (each day) starting at 9am. The last hearts will be in place by 2pm each day.
• If you find a heart, please register it right away with instructions on the heart's label. The Carlsbad Village Association website homepage at www.carlsbad-village.com will contain an up-to-the-minute update on the number of hearts registered to help those still hunting. So, please register!
• Hearts are hidden throughout the day over the two-day period (200 each day).
• Hearts are hidden, outdoors, in plain sight in Carlsbad Village; there's no need to look too hard.
• A link to the boundary map is available below.
• Iconic locations might include historic sites, near public artwork, a public park, outside a hotel, or common areas where you might sit for a while and relax, or outside businesses where you might go to shop and dine. We want you to discover new businesses and popular locations, so they will not be hidden in hard-to-reach places. Just keep your eyes peeled!
• Hearts will not be hidden at the NCTD train station, the Santa Fe Depot, in Rotary Park, or anywhere near the railroad tracks.
• They will not be hidden on the rail trails. or on the beach or beach entrances.
• Hearts will not be hidden inside parking lots.
• Hearts will not be hidden behind buildings, or in alley ways too far from a public sidewalk.
• Hearts will not be hidden inside or on the Barrio Glassworks property, although please do visit their art gallery and retail store and watch glassblowing in progress. Glass hearts will be for sale all weekend at Barrio Glassworks. Ask for the "locals discount."
• One heart per person, please. This is very important. We thank you for your cooperation on this for the integrity and future of this community event.
