There’s Still Time to Sign Up For The World’s Fastest 5k

The Carlsbad 5000 is back on the streets of Carlsbad next Sunday, April 7, 2024. Come out to support novice and veteran runners alike and be part of the downtown celebration. The Carlsbad 5000 road race has been a beloved spring tradition in the sunny Southern California beach town of Carlsbad since 1986. Dubbed the 'World's Fastest 5K,' it welcomes all runners regardless of age or pace to participate in a fast, scenic course along the glittering Pacific coastline. Even the youngest runners show up to run the iconic Junior Carlsbad kids' race.

The iconic 5K course features nearly two miles right along the Pacific Ocean waterfront, treating runners to cooling ocean breezes and views of the beautiful sandy Carlsbad beaches. This year's race will feature an ALL NEW course.

The new and exciting course change, after 37 years, is designed to benefit the Village Faire Shopping Center and Carlsbad Village in general. Event organizers Groundwork Endurance made the course change to improve safety (eliminates train track crossings); activate the Village Faire Shopping Center (driving over 10,000 consumers through the shopping center over the weekend); and opening streets in the Village up to two full hours earlier on Sunday.

Come out and cheer for the new runner completing their first 5K or the professional vying for a new world record. Both will experience the welcoming, energetic atmosphere that makes the Carlsbad 5000 a can't-miss Southern California tradition.
