The newest Carlsbad Art Wall mural has been completed! This mural marks the 33rd mural painted on the east facing wall of Senor Grubbys (377 Carlsbad Village Drive) in Carlsbad Village. Earlier this month, San Diego-based artist, Matthew Perdoni, transformed the art wall with one of his unique illustrations that is just perfect for a summer at the beach.
Perdoni originally hails from the woods of New England, where he kicked off his lifelong passion for art through the rigorous study of comic books and graphic arts. While his friends followed the dramatic plots of Batman and Wolverine, Perdoni lost himself in the illustrations. He studied studio art at the University of New Hampshire and then spent four years living and working in Italy, independently studying fine art and participating in the contemporary art scene in Western Europe. Equally inspired by the European street artists as he was the Old Masters, Perdoni’s evolution as an artist quickly spiked and he began to shape his own identity, exploring new processes and techniques in his art practice, leading him back to the States.
The first mural was painted in 2015. The goal of the Carlsbad Art Wall is to serve as a conduit between aspiring artists and professional artists, to provide a platform to engage and educate the Carlsbad community in the creative act of large scale public painting and to introduce a variety of new art and creative processes to the Carlsbad community.
The Carlsbad Art Wall is a project collaboration by Snyder Art and Design and Señor Grubby’s.
