Stay Connected At Village Voices Tuesday

Blog Post - March 1, 2022

Category: What's New

We are pleased to be back on Tuesday, March 8th for our second Village Voices meeting of the year at the New Village Arts theatre. NVA has hosted Village Voices meetings for several years and we are happy to be back at this lovely location, one more time, before their extensive remodel and renovation begins this spring.

Join us for complimentary coffee and pastries from 8:00am to 8:30am followed by a fast-paced, one hour meeting. You will not only be introduced to other business owners, managers, and residents, but you will learn about upcoming Carlsbad Village Association events, important business news, and will hear from guest speakers as well.

Topics

  • Village events (Makers Market, Scavenger Hunt, Farmers Market Summer Nights)
  • Downtown issues (Police substation, expanded city services)
  • Upcoming programs that are relevant to Village businesses and residents
  • After Hours Business Mixer

Guest Speakers

Captain Bryan Hargett, City of Carlsbad Police Department, will fill us in on the new police sub-station recently created in the Village that is going to be manned by Homeless Outreach Team officers as well as Community Service Officers.

In addition to Captain Hargett, we will be hearing from Environmental Specialist, Alyssa Wagner, from the City of Carlsbad, along with two recycling coordinators from Republic Services, who will talk about changes in trash services coming to residents and businesses this summer.

California's largest solid waste law since 1989, called SB 1383, will require Carlsbad residents and food-related businesses to implement new food recovery programs starting this summer. This affects everyone who lives and works in Carlsbad.

They will be talking about the phased-in material ban of single-use plastic food service ware and a material ban on plastic bags, and what these two changes mean to businesses. Republic Services will talk about the new organics services and cart exchanges.

Stay informed. Stay connected. Stay involved. Join us for Village Voices and let the staff of the Carlsbad Village Association keep you up to date! For more information, visit Village Voices on the CVA website. No RSVP required; bring a friend!
