Run, Cheer, or Plan Ahead For Street Closures: Carlsbad Marathon Returns

The Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K, organized by In Motion Events, are set for Sunday, January 19, 2025. This event offers participants miles of breathtaking ocean views, outstanding course support, and entertainment, making it a highlight of the winter racing season. 

Race Details:

• Full Marathon: 6:15 AM

• Half Marathon: 7:45 AM

• 5K: 6:40 AM

All races start at The Shoppes at Carlsbad and feature scenic routes showcasing Carlsbad’s beaches, lagoons, and vibrant Village.

Road Closures

For those navigating the city, several roads will be impacted from approximately 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., with select closures ending earlier:

• Fully Closed (5 a.m.–2 p.m.):

Marron Rd., Monroe St., Jefferson St., Laguna Dr., State St., Carlsbad Blvd., Poinsettia Ln., and Palomar Airport Rd.

• Partially Closed (5 a.m.–8 a.m.):

Jefferson St. between Laguna Dr. and Arbuckle Pl.

Carlsbad Police and traffic control will monitor crossings, permitting safe access when possible. Residents are encouraged to park on unaffected streets and plan extra travel time.
