NVA Presents the San Diego Premiere of The Half-Life of Marie Curie

New Village Arts (NVA) is thrilled kick off 2025 with the San Diego premiere of The Half-Life of Marie Curie, written by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Kym Pappas. This powerful one-act play runs from January 24th to February 23rd, 2025, with previews this weekend, from January 24th to 31st, and an Opening Night Reception on Saturday, February 1st, 2025.

Set in 1912, the play explores the aftermath of Marie Curie’s Nobel Prize win, as she faces scandal and public scrutiny. Seeking solace, she retreats to the seaside home of Hertha Ayrton, an engineer and suffragette, where their deep friendship helps them navigate personal and professional struggles. Through Gunderson’s wit and emotional depth, this play celebrates the power of female resilience, intellect, and camaraderie.

Director Kym Pappas, known for her acclaimed work on Fun Home at NVA, brings a visionary approach to this intimate story. The cast features Rachael VanWormer as Marie Curie and Leigh Scarritt as Hertha Ayrton, with their powerful performances complemented by an exceptional creative team.
