The Village of Carlsbad has a lot to be happy about right now. The Grand Avenue Improvement Project is completed and the road has been paved and restriped. It looks great! We will now have better drainage on Grand Avenue as well as improved lighting. Yes, you read right – better lighting.
Starting in about a week, the City of Carlsbad will be “uplighting” the trees located on the sidewalk along Grand Avenue. The City is also going to “uplight” as many trees as possible in the State Street/Grand Avenue Fountain parking lot, especially on the northwest corner of State and Grand. And they are going to start looking at the decorative tree lighting on State Street to make improvements and additions to that soon as well. All of these projects will make the Village more pedestrian friendly and safe which will increase everyone’s enjoyment and will help enhance evening retail and restaurant traffic.
In addition to the improvements the City is making, the Village will soon be home to several new businesses. Cicciotti’s Trattoria Italiana & Seafood, the Copper Canary, and Barrel Republic are just three of half a dozen with plans to open soon.
Cicciotti’s Trattoria Italiana & Seafood has enjoyed a loyal following in Cardiff for many years. Offering traditional Italian fare alongside its pizza cooked in a wood-fired brick pizza oven, Cicciotti’s will soon be a Village favorite. They are even catering the “State of Fashion” Fall Fashion Show taking place at Aranelle’s on State Street on October 23rd. Cicciotti’s will be located at 595 Grand Avenue.
The Copper Canary is a fine jewelry and accessory boutique specializing in antique bridal rings and sets. Interior remodeling is taking place right now, but it looks as if they will be opening their doors sometime this October. The Copper Canary will be located at 2832 State Street.
Barrel Republic is fast and furiously remodeling what once was two separate locations on State Street. Barrel Republic will appeal to all craft beer lovers offering beer by the ounce. With a location already in Pacific Beach and Oceanside, Barrel Republic will be calling 2961 State Street home soon as well. With items like Spicy Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese and Wasabi Dusted Potato Chips, along with their local beers and ones from up and down the state of California and beyond, this will no doubt be a popular place to meet in the Village.
