The Foundry Artist Studios at New Village Arts is hosting an art exhibit featuring a collection of inspired art by Foundry artist Carey Garneau. The exhibit will run from Wednesday, March 3 through Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
The West Abstracted is a series meant to engage the viewer through nostalgia while simultaneously perplexing the mind. Within her paintings are fragmented landscapes, elements of topography and abstracted vistas. Each composition depicts an environment in a unique and sometimes unrecognizable way. Using only large forms and simple line-work, the particular subject is often left up to the viewers imagination.
Carey's paintings are created on stained wood canvas allowing her to include a physical element of the land. The texture of the wood grain is incorporated into the overall composition and frequently a highlight of the piece. She uses a muted but diverse color palette that represents desert terrain, rolling valleys and the pacific coast.
The Foundry Artist Studios can be found adjacent to the New Village Arts Theatre located at 2787 State Street, at the corner of State Street and Christiansen Way, in the heart of downtown Carlsbad and is open to the public from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Please stop in, enjoy the gallery exhibit, shop local and support the arts during this critical time.
The Foundry and its artists are observing recommended health and safety guidelines, so they ask that all visitors wear a face covering and observe physical distancing requirements.
