After a much anticipated opening, Barrio Glassworks officially removed their fencing and welcomed the public to a spectacular show. It has been a year in the making, but well worth the wait. Mary Devlin and her husband Gary Raskin, along with their son, Drew Raskin, have created a space that will become an artistic hub in the downtown Carlsbad community for people of all ages for many years to come.
Offering a large and inviting retail space featuring glasses, vases, candles, and ornaments, with live glassblowing demonstrations taking place throughout each day, Barrio Glassworks is a place to come browse, shop, and dream. Who knew that after a full year of construction that the Grand Opening of Barrio Glassworks would be in the midst of a health pandemic. But thankfully, with retail shopping still allowed with some restrictions under the new health order, Barrio Glassworks is still able to forge ahead as it has done for the past year, much to the delight of its eagerly awaiting fans.
Guest artists, a fine art gallery, "Make Your Own" opportunities, and even glass blowing classes, are all planned for the near future for Barrio Glassworks to augment the current retail shop and "hot shop" demonstration area.
Barrio Glassworks is open every day, except for Mondays. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and on Sundays from 10am to 5pm. Visit Barrio Glassworks on line at www.barrioglassworks.com and sign up for their newsletter to stay up to date at all times. Also, keep in mind that their retail shop will continually be changing as new pieces are added, so plan to visit often.
