Carlsbad Village is rallying together for Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 21st, from 9 AM to 12 PM. The Carlsbad Village Association (CVA), in partnership with Pure Project Carlsbad and Handel’s Carlsbad, is teaming up with I Love A Clean San Diego for an event that invites the community to help protect our coastline. This effort is part of a larger statewide initiative led by the California Coastal Commission and the Ocean Conservancy.

Volunteers will meet outside Pure Project Carlsbad, located at 2825 State St., where supplies like gloves and buckets will be provided, although you’re encouraged to bring your own if you have them. Registration is required to participate, so be sure to sign up below.

On the day of the event, come dressed in comfortable clothes, closed-toed shoes, and sun protection, and don’t forget to bring a water bottle. After checking in with the site captain, who will provide a brief orientation and safety talk, volunteers will disperse to remove litter from the area. The site captain will handle the sorting and disposal of the collected litter, and community service verification will be available upon request.

All participants must sign a release-of-liability waiver, with those under 18 needing a guardian’s signature. Waivers can be downloaded beforehand or signed on-site. Volunteers will also receive data cards to record the types of litter collected, which will help track environmental trends and inform future efforts.

This cleanup will take place rain or shine, so please come prepared. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on our local environment and keep our coastline beautiful!
