The devastating wildfires in Los Angeles have impacted countless lives, and the Carlsbad community is rallying to provide support. Below are several ways you can contribute to relief efforts, including donation drives, fundraising events, and opportunities to shop for a cause.
For those displaced by the recent LA wildfires, many Carlsbad hotels are offering discounted rates and assistance to provide a safe place to stay. Visit the Visit Carlsbad website for a full list of participating accommodations, including SpringHill Suites, Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Ocean Palms Beach Resort, Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, and more. These offers include discounts, waived fees, and special packages to ensure comfort during this challenging time.
Current Donation Drives
City Council Member Priya Bhat-Patel and her team are collecting donations for fire victims. Needed items include:
• Canned goods/non-perishables
• Individually wrapped snacks
• New bed sheets, bedding, and blankets
• Large trash bags, work gloves, and safety glasses
• New socks/underwear
• Toiletries, air purifiers, and batteries

Upcoming Events
• Shoots x PSSC Film and LA Fundraiser
This Friday, January 17th, head to Shoots at 2956 Roosevelt St. (in The Cottages) for the premiere of Take This Job and Shred It, created in collaboration with The Palm Springs Surf Club. The evening starts at 5:30PM and features live music by Haez and DJ Packratt.
Support wildfire relief through their raffle, featuring items from beloved local brands. All proceeds will provide food, shelter, and necessities to survivors and first responders. Shoots will also accept donations of toiletries, baby essentials, kids’ supplies, clothing, and comfort items. Donations will be distributed through It’s Bigger Than Us and other organizations aiding those affected by the fires.
• Benefit Show at Choice Juicery Carlsbad Village
This Saturday, January 18th, from 3:00-5:30 PM, join Choice Juicery at the corner of Grand Ave. & State St. for a special benefit show. Purchase a $15 raffle ticket for a chance to win amazing prizes, with 100% of proceeds going to the California Fire Foundation. Enjoy live music, mocktails, and community connection at their Carlsbad Village location.
Local Businesses Making a Difference
• Board & Brew: Through Friday, January 17th, all stores in LA, Orange County, and San Diego are collecting round-up donations at checkout, matched by the company, with proceeds going to the California Fire Foundation. Board & Brew is located at 201 Oak Ave.
• Endless Summer Boutique: On Saturday, January 18th, 25% of sales will be donated to fire relief. Visit them from 11AM-4PM at 575 Grand Ave, Carlsbad.
• Kaia FIT: On Saturday, January 25th, all proceeds from Kaia Fit Carlsbad's Paint Night (and additional donations made that night) will be donated to the California Fire Foundation. To register for the event, visit https://forms.gle/NPXSAqZyczvdAraX6.
• Handel's Ice Cream: On Friday, January 17th, Handel's will donate 20% of sales all day at their Carlsbad Village location (2825 State St.) and will also host a Fireman "Fill the Boot" campaign to collect donations to support firefighters.
Thank You for Recent Efforts
A huge thank you to Pure Project Brewing for their incredible generosity! On Monday, January 13, they donated 100% of their taproom sales to GlobalGiving’s California Wildfire Relief Fund. Thanks to their efforts and the community’s support, an impressive $15,287 was raised to support wildfire relief efforts. A truly remarkable contribution to a vital cause. Way to go Pure Project!
