This Friday, April 25, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, join the City of Carlsbad and the artist team Greenmeme for a community meet-and-greet at the Carlsbad Village Association office (2695 State Street). Greenmeme, a collaboration between artists Freyja Bardell and Brian Howe, has been selected to create the city’s first permanent public art installation beneath a freeway underpass.

This event offers a unique opportunity to engage with the artists, learn about their previous projects, and share your thoughts on what makes Carlsbad special. Your input will play a crucial role in shaping the artistic vision for the Chestnut Avenue underpass, which serves as a vital link between the Barrio community and surrounding neighborhoods.
If you can’t attend Friday’s session, Greenmeme will also be hosting two additional meet-and-greet opportunities on Saturday, April 26:
- 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Holiday Park (1055 Chestnut Avenue)
- 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Library Learning Center (3368 Eureka Place)
For those unable to attend in person, you can share your ideas by emailing arts@carlsbadca.gov. Greenmeme will continue to develop the concept in the coming months, with an update expected to be presented to the Arts Commission this summer.
Learn more about Greenmeme’s work and their approach to public art at their official website: greenmeme.com.
Don’t miss this chance to contribute to a project that will enhance Carlsbad’s cultural landscape and foster a deeper connection within the community.
