Hearts of Carlsbad Village
A successful Village activation
Thank you for joining us on the hunt this weekend for an event unlike any other. We are so grateful to Barrio Glassworks and Visit Carlsbad for helping us bring such a fun and unique event to downtown Carlsbad. We hid 200 hearts this year . .. stay tuned for next year!
Hearts of Carlsbad Village started three years ago during the pandemic when the Carlsbad Village Association (CVA) and others were still unable to have robust indoor events or events with large crowds. We were still operating with an abundance of caution. But, we were searching for a way to host a community event to invite people back to "main street" to help support the local small businesses. And that is how the "Follow Your Heart" treasure hunt began. It also helped us highlight the amazing art of glassblowing as well as historical and iconic locations in Carlsbad Village.
Each year it has grown and this year it became "Hearts of Carlsbad Village" and we were able to put 200 out there for lucky treasure hunters to find over two days. We realize that not everyone can find a heart. It is truly about being in the right place at the right time. But, we know that so many of you were fortunate to find one and everyone, whether lucky or not, enjoyed being part of the community and spending time in our incredible downtown.
This year we had more prizes than before! A total of 177 individually numbered blown glass hearts were registered as of 2:30pm on Feb 14. The winner of the “Private Glassblowing Experience” at Barrio Glassworks is Tracy McCarthy. The winners of three “Gold Heart” Village prizes are: Katie Baldwin, Rosie Rodriguez, and Amy Dunn. All winners will be notified via email.
Thank you to all who came out to enjoy time in Carlsbad Village this past weekend. We appreciate your support and we look forward to an even bigger and better event in 2024!
