New Village Arts presents Larissa FastHorse’s The Thanksgiving Play, a satirical comedy that explores the challenges of creating a culturally sensitive Thanksgiving pageant for an elementary school. Following four well-meaning theatre artists, the story unfolds as they navigate their good intentions while attempting to avoid controversy. As their plans unravel, the play humorously examines the complexities and contradictions surrounding contemporary discussions of inclusivity and representation.

This production is significant for the theatre as it features the first Native American playwright to grace the Ray Charles Stage in the Conrad Prebys Theatre at the Dea Hurston New Village Arts Center.

The Thanksgiving Play runs from October 12th to November 3rd, with preview performances starting this Friday, October 4th to 11th. The opening night reception takes place on October 12th, marking the start of a thought-provoking and entertaining run.
