On Saturday, June 17th, from 10am to 4pm, the fountain courtyard at the Village Faire Shopping Center (300 Carlsbad Village Dr.) will serve as an open-air art gallery with 10 incredible, unique pieces of artwork on display for the public to enjoy.
From concept sketch to finished artwork, 10 local and regional artists have been hard at work on their Carlsbad-centric vision, using repurposed surfboards as their canvas.
All 10 surfboards will be on display and many of the artists will be there to explain their art medium and how they turned their vision into art on a surfboard.
Some of the mediums include airbrush, stained glass, mosaics, painting, markers, and even carving. All artists are local or regional from San Diego to Oceanside.
Come on down to meet the artists and see each of their unique perspectives of what Carlsbad is all about. From noon to 2:00pm, enjoy vocal jazz quartet, Gin N Tonix, a high-octane quartet whose repertoire includes the tight harmonic vocals of Jazz, Swing, and tributes to the Manhattan Transfer.
This temporary Pop Up Art installation is managed by the Carlsbad Village Association with support by the City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts. It is designed to connect the business community with the arts community for all to enjoy. You never know where art will pop up next!
