The State Street Farmers’ Market joins farmers markets across the country in celebrating National Farmers Market Week from August 6-12, 2023. Now in its 24th year, National Farmers Market Week is an annual celebration that highlights the vital role farmers markets play in our nation’s food system.
To recognize this special day, the Carlsbad Village Association (CVA) will be hosting a giveaway opportunity for some amazing Farmers Market Bounty Bags full of incredible market items on Wednesday, August 9th. We have a Farmers Market take on a Mad Lib game that will make you smile, some canvas tote bags to give away, and more. Check in at the CVA merchandise table on Aug. 9th at the northwest side of the market behind the Valdivia Farms booth. National Farmers’ Market Week provides a great opportunity to show the nation how much value markets bring to their communities. Farmers’ Markets preserve farmland, stimulate local economies, increase access to nutritious food, support healthy communities, and promote sustainability.
The State Street Farmers’ Market has been a staple in downtown Carlsbad since October of 1994. Originally located in a parking lot on Roosevelt Street, tucked between a bank, apartments and office buildings, it opened with 20 eager vendors to much fanfare. The month prior, the Carlsbad Village Association, incorporated and the Farmers Market was its first, big step in the revitalization of Carlsbad Village that has been going strong for 29 years. It now hosts 55 vendors of all kinds.
Join us every Wednesday starting at 2:30pm in the heart of Carlsbad Village on State Street between Grand Avenue and Carlsbad Village Drive. There are public parking lots on Roosevelt Street as well as the south end of State Street and by the Coaster Station too.
