It’s a wrap! The tents are down, the artists have moved on to their next show, and the 17th Annual Art in the Village can be summed up as a success. With 100 local and regional artists in attendance, the artwork on display in the Village was exceptional. From the stunning images from travel photographer and Cardiff-resident Robin Rodig to the marine-inspired bronze and copper sculptures created by internationally renowned artist-sculptor Donjo, Carlsbad’s Art in the Village did not disappoint.
“One of the things that helps make this event stand out from others is that it is a juried art show,” said Brian Roth, of Kennedy & Associates, street faire consultants who manage the event for the Carlsbad Village Association. “Both before and during the event, vendor’s artwork is reviewed to guarantee that it is personally made by the artist themselves. Attendees really enjoy the smaller, more intimate feel of this event along with the high quality of art on display.”
While listening to musicians Ashley Hollander, Tiki Duo and Levi James and Friends from 10am to 5pm, artwork came alive before your eyes. Artists throughout the event demonstrated their talents live at Art in the Village, including Virginia Ann Holt who lovingly and meticulously hand paints silk scarves for a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art.
Always held on the second Sunday in August, next year’s event that will take place on August 7th. Mark your calendar now! We look forward to seeing you there.
