This holiday season, the Dea Hurston New Village Arts Center brings a beloved classic to life with Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play. Created by San Diego artists Jon Lorenz and Lance Arthur Smith, this unique adaptation captures the nostalgic charm of a live radio show, complete with Foley effects and a score of holiday carols to warm even the most skeptical hearts.
Co-directed by two exciting San Diego talents, Faith Carrion and Kay McNellen, this heartwarming story follows Doris Walker, a no-nonsense Macy’s executive on a mission to find a new Santa Claus. She hires Kris Kringle, a mysterious man who insists he’s the real deal. Despite doubts from Doris and her six-year-old daughter Susan, Kris’s unwavering holiday spirit slowly begins to work its magic, and Susan’s belief makes all the difference in this holiday “miracle.”
