Introducing Ampersand -- a long awaited addition to Carlsbad Village -- located at 2916 State Street. After meticulous remodeling, Ampersand was opened on Friday, July 31st by Carlsbad-resident, Annette Thomas. Strolling through Ampersand is like thumbing through the latest copy of San Diego Home & Garden magazine. Dedicated to furniture, home décor and specialty gifts, you are certain to find something unique in this new store.
Annette (pronounced Annette-ah) was born in Germany but called Laguna Beach home for over 20 years working at, directing and eventually owning her own preschool. In 2010 she became a Carlsbad resident, while still commuting to Laguna Beach. Now, as the owner-operator of Ampersand, her commute is just 15 minutes.
“I always wanted to own a home décor and furniture store,” Annette said. “Over the years I’ve helped friends decorate their own homes, always focusing on creating a comfortable home environment.”
Many of the items at Ampersand are handmade, made from recycled materials, sustainable harvested, eco-friendly materials and their vendors are fair trade compliant.
“I love Carlsbad because it truly feels like a village,” Annette said. “It has so many great restaurants and family-owned businesses. We love all of the places that have live music and display art made by local artists. We’re so happy to be here.”
