Small Business Saturday in the Village

Blog Post - November 11, 2015

Category: What's New

Last year 88 million people showed up to Shop Small® on Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to strengthening the community by supporting local small businesses.  Did you know that if every family in the country spent $10 a month at a locally-owned, independent business rather than at a national chain that over $9.3 billion would be directly returned to the local economy? That means better schools, better roads, more support for police, fire and rescue departments, and a stronger local business environment.

This coming Small Business Saturday – November 28 – plan on spending the day in the Village of Carlsbad at your favorite independent stores.  Most stores will be offering special discounts on products, or will be introducing new products, or will be having giveaways and hospitality.  One such business, Viz Art Ink Gallery, at the corner of State Street and Grand Avenue will be celebrating Small Business Saturday with a free, family-friendly holiday event that is open to the public. Viz Art Ink Gallery wants to make the holiday shopping experience fun and easy with over 20 unique local artists throughout their gallery.  Chris Moberg will be playing live and Samantha Dulay will be their featured artist. There will be free wine and beer (for people over 21), chocolate treats from the Carlsbad Chocolate Bar, and a chance to win over $200 in art and prizes including a Viz Art Ink prize package, custom bangle by Samantha Dulay Designs and much more!  For more information, visit www.vizartink.com.

When you plan your holiday shopping this season, consider the Village of Carlsbad as an integral part of your plans.  Let the Village merchants welcome you with personal customer service, unique products, and feel good about keeping your dollars local where it can have the most positive impact possible.
