Monthly Makers Market Supports Local Artists

Blog Post - March 23, 2021

Category: What's New

We love our local artists! That is why the Makers Market is such a special event and why we are pleased to be able to host it the first Saturday of the month through June. Jewelry, clothing, home decor, candles, pottery, macrame, woodworking, vintage and upcycled items, photography, essential oils, artisan sweets, and more, can be found at the Makers Market. This is a juried event and all items must be hand made with the artist present to represent their products and artwork.

One local artist, Hannah Curran, the owner of Beans and Beanies, will be bringing her passion for knitting to the Makers Market. When Hannah was 15, she started a mini knitting company where she knit beanies with the majority of the proceeds going to Olive Crest to help with their foster programs. Today, 10% of her profits go to Casa De Amparo to assist with their youth programs. Hannah has a heart for children and her artwork enables her to make a difference in their lives. Hannah hand makes gorgeous chunky knit blankets (shown above), beanies, scrunchies, and more. Come visit her on April 3rd, hear her story, and fall in love with her handmade creations.

Juried Art and Handcrafted Market Place
From 9 am to 4 pm, the St. Michael's by-the Sea Episcopal Church will turn into an open-air makers market. St. Michael's was built in 1884 and its historic buildings and campus are a beautiful backdrop to this outdoor artisan market. All applicants are juried and only self-designed and handcrafted items will exhibit in this venue. The Makers Market is a free community event.

Safety Is Our Top Priority
Staff and management have worked very closely with the County of San Diego and the City of Carlsbad to bring the Makers Market to you safely that complies with health guidelines as we remain in the Red Tier. Masks are required at this event and hand sanitizing stations will be available as well as fresh water hand washing stations.

Make a day of it in Carlsbad Village
Public parking is plentiful in the Village, and the beach is only two blocks away. Many casual and fine dining establishments are within steps from the venue and shopping at a wide variety of boutiques, salons, and galleries.
