Last week, 76th District Assemblymember, Tasha Boerner Horvath, who has offices in Carlsbad Village, visited the staff at Café Topes in Carlsbad Village to present them with a Certificate of Recognition. She sat down and talked at length with Jacquie Barrille, who along with the husband Joe, own Café Topes. A recipient of the Covid-19 California Relief Grant, Assemblymember Boerner Horvath set out to learn more how the pandemic affected their restaurant and staff, and to learn more about their recovery efforts and what the future held for this small business.

The certificate of recognition was for Café Topes’ commitment and dedication to continuing to do business in the City of Carlsbad. The certificate went on to acknowledge Cafe Topes for their resilience in weathering the challenges of the past year and commended their efforts.

Café Topes has been family owned and operated since 2013, with son Josh in charge of the kitchen. Cafe Topes is the local solution to the classic breakfast mixed with iconic original takes on breakfasts you did not know you even craved yet.

Next time you are craving a homemade cinnamon roll, the likes of which you have never tasted, or Cardiff Crack and Eggs, or maybe a couple of Maple Habanero Chorizo tacos, come grab a fantastic meal at this local favorite and congratulate the staff at Café Topes for making it through a tremendously difficult 15 months and emerging even better than before!
